Scrap the Girls - Janurary 2018

Good Morning! Almost the end of January, can you believe it?! Today I am sharing my take on the inspiration board, more of a colour palette over at Scrap the Girls.

And here is my take (please note that my DD1 is not impressed with me using this photo!!!):

I have used lots of gorgeous blue tones from the Cocoa Vanilla Bohemian Dream collection, and also dies cuts and stickers. For my background I mixed some Duke shimmer dust from Colour Blast with some texture paste to create the perfect blue.

Also layered in there are some Charms Creations DIY Banners, which I cut up!!! Yes, I cut them in half and used them in two different places!

Here is the top half, just like a little tab!

And the other one, layered with other bits and pieces.

Scrap the Girls - January

So does anyone else feel like January is slipping by in a haze of heat and humidity?! We are on countdown for back to school and TAFE here. Plenty of running around being done as all those little back to school jobs get done.

But the upside to the heat and humidity is the days being locked inside in the air-con! Good scrapping days! Today I am sharing a page created for the Scrap the Girls January challenge which Rainbow Splendour is sponsoring. Here is the challenge:

At first when I looked at this challenge my mind went blank, then I thought of some great doily stamps that I have (inspired by the henna tattoos) and then it was time to dig through the patterned papers and see what colours that I had to work in with the colour palette.

So this is what I came up with:

Turned out I had a few bits and pieces that worked with the colours, and of course you can never go past some ink or mists to help add colour.

I have used this gorgeous printed wood veneer from RS, along with the wood veneer word. Balancing it out is the banners from Charms Creations in music paper, very versatile!

This little cluster includes a pretty pin and epoxy from RS. Can you see the doily stamps peeping out? I used some distress inks for stamping these, faded jeans and seedless preserves, just about a perfect match don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a go at the challenge, you might even score yourself some great Rainbow Splendour goodies too!

Scrap the Girls April Share

Good Morning! Today I am back to share my take on the April Scrap the Girls challenge. This month we have a beautifully girly mood board created by our very own Rikki.

The colours are just divine. I worked with all of the colours and a photo of me and my newest niece and finished with this page:

I focused mainly on the peachy-pink and grey and added splashes of aqua and purple and also gold as seen in the quote (any excuse to add gold I say!).

For this little cluster I have a gorgeous vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour, a heavenly heart from Charms Creations, a flair from D-lish Scraps and a little resin dot from Resin Rainbow.

Lots of gorgeous flowers from D-lish Scraps here along with my go-to journal spots, and don't you just love the gold vellum word, this was from a Maggie Holmes ephemera pack.

You still have time to get this challenge done, I hope to see your entries!

Thanks for stopping by,

Scrap the Girls March Challenge

Still catching up on my new month shares! Today is Scrap the Girls challenge, and it is a sketch! Yay!

You have to love a sketch with lots of layering! I decided to rotate and use two photos instead of one, another beauty of using a sketch, adjusting it to suit you!

Other than the few tweaks that I mentioned I stayed fairly true to the design of the sketch. I loved playing up in the red ribbon in the photo by adding little touches of red on the page, while the rest of it was fairly neutral.

Love these new giant clouds from Charms Creations!  The clouds added that little touch of whimsy to the page and made for great embellishments.

I also used some Rainbow Splendour wood veneer clouds to create my little cluster of three!

Charms Creations is one of the sponsors of this months challenge, so you know there is a fabulous prize up for grabs so make sure you go and check it out and have a go!

Scrap the Girls February

Thought I had better jump on and share my sample for the Scrap the Girls February challenge! This month we have a pretty awesome inspiration board, and I just loved it!

I think it was the gold that made it for me! And gold combined with black, such a striking combination and that is what I went with on my page. I also had a play with some different techniques and ideas and I really love the page that I finished with.

Lots and lots of gold! Lucky I have been collecting gold or I would have been stuffed! I started with using my Minc toner pen (when it was working, but that is another story...) to create dots on the black background, they are roughly in line and similar size but some do tend to veer off with their own ideas! I foiled these with gold (of course!) and that gave me my starting point.

Continuing on with the foiling I decided to try foiling my Charms Creations DIY Star, and guess what? It worked! Last for the foiling was my title, which I wrote onto cardstock with the toner pen and then added the gold and cut around. Can you see some of the other gorgeous gold goodies? There is a gold foil flair from Flutterby Designs and a gold foiled vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour. It all looks so pretty in this gold cluster!

I wanted to add some other interest on the background so used some gold texture paste from Faber Castell and a script stencil. I had some gorgeous gold foiled vellum and a doily which I used to mat my photos and finished off with some gold glitter stars and embossed stickers.

And just when you think I couldn't add in any more gold, I used my gold motex tape to do my journaling!

It might be gold overload but I love it!

Scrap the Girls January 2016

Back again! Sharing Scrap the Girls January challenge now. This month we were lucky enough to be sponsored by Dark Room Door and we were all given some goodies to play with, and with January's challenge being a "free for all" we had free reign to create what we wanted! (But in case having too much freedom is a little scary there is a sketch you can use over on the blog!)

So, the goodies that I received were based on beautiful black and white images of flowers, so I decided to go with a black and white page with a bit of colour, this one features two of my nieces.

I decided to use some Cocoa Vanilla patterned paper as my background, and I misted a doily pattern in a couple of places using a silver mist, this helped tone it down just a little. But I do love this one colour popping through, which I also matched and used with liquid pearls on my floral paper.

I love collecting fonts! This is one that I actually purchased in a set and I love how it cut and it works so well with the text on the patterned paper too.

A bit of bling with some crystals and sequin bow, and I am still loving my motex writer!

The cut out word strips from Dark Room Door were great for adding extra little touches to the page too.

Make sure you stop by and check out the rest of the teams inspiration, and we all had different DDR goodies so all our pages are quite different!

Scrap the Girls December Challenge

A new month already and a new challenge at Scrap the Girls! This month is a gorgeous inspiration board:

The colours are so rich and inspiring! My layout design was inspired by Missy Whidden, I love watching her put together a page, check out her you tube videos if you have the chance.

Here is my page:

I love how there is a great balance of the freshness of the white background and the richness of the colours.

A simple wood veneer word for my title, and Charms Creations heavenly heart in just the right shade of teal!

2Crafty is a sponsor this month, and I even had some in my stash! I used some diamond border bits that I experimented on and successfully managed to add teal foil to!

Make sure you head over and check out the other girls great designs too!

Happy November!

Well today is the beginning of November and also I guess the downhill run into the end of the year. It is crazy just how fast this year feels like it has flown by. Is anyone else feeling it?!

But new month means new challenges are revealed and today I am sharing the page that I created for the Scrap the Girls November challenge. This month it is a great sketch:

And there are plenty of great prizes too, check out all the details on the blog here and also see the other fabulous samples created by the team. And this is the page that I created, I am not one to use circular photos much so it is definitely an adaption!

I just love the bright pink and black combination, and lots of little girly touches thrown in for good measure!

For the tags I have used journal spots and tabs. I love adding in words either on stickers or tabs, they are great for layering.

And this Charms Creation in my stash was too cute and I thought it went perfectly with the photos.

So you have seen my take on the sketch, check out the rest of the teams and then have a go too! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by,

Scrap the Girls October

Wow, October, that is just crazy! But, a new month means new challenges and that is always good. Today I am sharing my sample for the Scrap the Girls new challenge, which is one of the most gorgeous mood boards that I have seen! The colours are simply divine! So I guess you want to see the mood board now....

And this is the page that I created from the board:

I had recently purchased a pack of pastel coloured gelatos with just the right colours for this challenge, so that is where I started on my background. Simply colouring the background and then blending with water. Over this I added some white gesso through a bricks stencil to create my "wall" and then layered up from there.

There is one of my favourite items, the D-lish Scraps journal spot! And I am loving using word strip stickers, these ones are from Crate Paper.

And I can just about always find the perfect Charms Creation to add to my page and this butterfly doily runner was the right touch, sitting under my simple wood veneer title.

I loved the line of butterflies on the mood board and used that in the same colours as my patterned paper to run beside the photo, still using my trusty Martha Stewart butterfly punches!

Well that is it for today, too hot to sit at the computer any longer! Thanks for stopping by and make sure you head over to Scrap the Girls for the rest of the teams fabulous inspiration and have a go yourself!

Scrap the Girls September

I really did mean to get this up on my blog last week, but with my son's birthday on the first and kindy photo commitments last week it just didn't happen. But better late than never they say!

This is my first sample for Scrap the Girls so it is just a little bit exciting! This month the challenge is of the sketch variety, yay! Sketches are always a great way to get a page done quickly, and this sketch is awesome.

And this is my take on the sketch:

Where all the flowers are I decided to use a floral stencil with texture paste. I coloured the texture paste with a squirt of Heidi Swapp colour shine in the same colour as the spray bursts and drips. I also changed up the sizes and proportions of the main elements too so that it suited my photo and PL cards.

I think I just about always have a place to add a Charms Creation embellishment on my page! Teamed with some paper roses, resin heart and some gold enamel dots and you finish with a nice little cluster.

This PL card was from a Heidi Swapp set and I coloured it with colour shine and backed the word with some patterned paper to help it stand out against the background.

I love using my motex writer from D-lish Scraps and I had fun cutting the strips into individual words to make my journalling a little different!

So there you have it, my first sample for Scrap the Girls. I hope to see your pages for this challenge really soon too!

Scrap the Girls - August

Well we are a bit past mid way through the month and it feels the year is getting away quickly, as it always does at this time of year! We are about to head into a busy time with lots of birthdays, school fete and fathers day so I know my spare time is going to be whittled down. Ahh well, that is life!

So, I am here to share the page that I created for the Scrap the Girls August challenge. This month is a gorgeous mood board that I instantly fell in love with.

Isn't it divine?! Just beautiful colours and I had great fun using a Charms DIY new diamond shape on my page. I also had in my head the gold dipped look so I experimented and I am pretty happy with what I came up with! So here is my page:

On my background I used some peach coloured Kaiser Mist and some faded jeans Distress Ink.

To continue the diamond shape through the page I also cut two diamond shapes from card coloured with the peach mist and then spread gold pearl texture paste on the other half to create the dip dyed effect. The little roses are white coloured with the mist too, and you have to love some gold flair from D-lish Scraps!

Here is a close up of the DIY diamond. I used the faded jeans distress ink to colour the top half of the diamond and then I soaked some embossing ink into the bottom half and used some gold tinsel embossing powder on the bottom half. While the embossing powder was still hot I sprinkled some more on the give it a little more thickness. I really love how it turned out!

On the title I coloured some white Basic Grey letters with my gold Wink of Stella pen. So there you have it. my glittery and shiny girls page!

Thanks for stopping by.
