Another Rainbow Splendour Share

Here is another page using new goodies from Rainbow Splendour! This time gorgeous wood veneer feathers. I decided to create a gold dipped feel using embossing powder on the feathers and I just loved how they turned out!

I have also used the gorgeous Free Spirit collection from Cocoa Vanilla, just beautiful!

I love the splashes of gold with the feathers and vellum.

I have also sneaked one of the new music paper Charms Creations in there too! I kind of splattered it with colours that co-ordinated with the papers and a little gold too of course!

And to round things out, one of the cute new pretty pins in the perfect colour no less!

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you check out the Rainbow Splendour sale on now!

Charms Creations February Challenge - part 2

So last week I shared a page that I created for the Charms Creations February challenge you can check it out here. The challenge is to create a card or layout using XO's or hearts. Today I am sharing a simple card using XO's.

Now you may have heard me mention my goal to use more stamping in my creations.Well that is kind of where this card started, all about the stamping.

I stamped the "OX" across my background and then spritzed with a bit of colour, because I love bright! Added some book page XO's and then fussy cut stamping for the greeting.

I love the book page Charms, they are so easy to use and match pretty much everything!

And you need to know that this card has already been put to good use! My DD1 used it as a valentines card for her boyfriend!

Charms Creations February Challenge

A new challenge has just been announced at Charms Creations, and it is a pretty simple one, especially if you shopped at the sale the other day (and it is not too late to shop!).

A card or layout using XO's or hearts, too easy! In fact I created both a card and a layout, but today I am just going to share the layout, which uses a heart.

I have been using some more of the gorgeous My Minds eye My Story collection, full of reds, blacks and yellows and perfect for pages about love! And I decided to scrap about our funny little cat and how we love her.

Here is my Charms Creations Heart, layered with a Studio Calico enamel heart and a word sticker from the MME collection kit.

I also used some gold glitter hearts to play on the touches of gold in the papers and stickers.

This wood veneer heart pretty pin from Rainbow Splendour was the perfect touch in this little embellishment cluster.

So we know how easy Charms Creations hearts are to use, are you going to have a go at this challenge too?

Scrap the Boys February Challenge

Well another year is well and truly off at a sprint! But now that school is back in swing I have been finding some pockets of time for myself! With that time I decided to have a go at the new Scrap the Boys challenge which happened to be a sketch! I do love a sketch!

And this is what I came up with:

This is my little man on his first day back at school last year, because we don't want to rush these things! I have also made a little deal with myself to try and use more of the stash of embellishments that I have collected and also to stamp more!  (Not that it is stopping me from buying more of course...) To that end I have used some bronze foiled stars and letters from Studio Calico on this page and stamped some labels as well as the date. Oh and the paper is an older SC range.

I have split the Rainbow Splendour vellum bow on either side of the photo and found it is a great way to utilise these bows without the need for quite so much space. One part of the bow is layered with some leaves, also from Rainbow Splendour and also a Charms Creations Super Star. On the other side of the photo is a cute Terrific Tab also from Charms Creations.

I quite like these bronze foiled stars! And I must use my label stamps more often, so great for layering and journaling.

So that is it from me today. Thanks for stopping by,

Katie x

1, 2, 3 Challenge

Charms Creations sponsors all kinds of great challenges and this month one of those challenges is the 1, 2, 3 Challenge blog where you are given three key criteria for your creation (a colour, a word and a technique). This is the criteria for this month:

Now how can you go wrong with red and hearts, and including the word lovely was easy enough too! Here is my finished page:

I used all kinds of great goodies on my page, and I had been waiting for the perfect time to use this beautiful MME collection and it was just right for this page and photos. The soft pink texture paste is from Shimmerz and is such a pretty soft colour and was perfect with the heart stencil (Scrap FX) to add some subtle background detail.

I have been experimenting with the vellum bows from Rainbow Splendour and decided to cut one in half and place on either side of the the circle Charms Creation (which just happened to be spotty and a red and a perfect match), it kind of looks like a lolly or sweet now! I love how it turned out.

One of the patterned papers had these cool string art hearts that were just begging to be cut out, so I did! They were great for layering around the page, and here layered with a Burdy's Embellie red spotty button, wood veneer and word sticker.

The title was a print and cut created using my Silhouette and then foiled in light pink, and finished with some hand writing above.

This cute little felt heart was a special that came with one of my Rainbow Splendour orders, and well.... it just fit the brief and tied in with the Charms felt too.

There you have it! My 1, 2, 3 Challenge completed.

Thanks for stopping by,

Katie

Kraft+ February Challenge

There is a fabulous new challenge up at Kraft+ for the new month and it was so much fun to do. It is called "Going Postal" and here is the graphic to show you what we want:

At first I wasn't sure how I was going to tackle this one, so I started by cutting out any stamps that had come in on mail and parcels. Turned out I had quite a few! I have also set myself a little personal challenge of using more stamping in my pages this year (I have quite a collection!) and I found the perfect postage stamp in amongst my Tim Holtz collections. So armed with these goodies I started creating....

You can probably see that my background is basically all about the stamps! I even found some postage stamp washi amongst my stash too.

I coloured a DIY Charms Creations heart with ink after a layer of matte gel medium, then repeatedly stamped across it. With the gel medium it gives a better base for stamping to take and the ink or mist doesn't soak in and saturate it either. I was really pleased with how this turned out! The black paint beside the heart is actually a bit of Colour Blast texture paste in Dusty Charcoal. I am loving adding this like paint!

I found a great chipboard alpha in my stash too, a Freckled Fawn one (I think) and it was the perfect colour to match this page.

Also hiding in my stash were these wood veneer stamp frames. I can' quite remember who they were from though. But they seemed to work in perfectly!

A fairly simple layout, but one I really loved after I finished.

I hope you get a chance to join in at Kraft+ this month!

Scrap the Girls February

Thought I had better jump on and share my sample for the Scrap the Girls February challenge! This month we have a pretty awesome inspiration board, and I just loved it!

I think it was the gold that made it for me! And gold combined with black, such a striking combination and that is what I went with on my page. I also had a play with some different techniques and ideas and I really love the page that I finished with.

Lots and lots of gold! Lucky I have been collecting gold or I would have been stuffed! I started with using my Minc toner pen (when it was working, but that is another story...) to create dots on the black background, they are roughly in line and similar size but some do tend to veer off with their own ideas! I foiled these with gold (of course!) and that gave me my starting point.

Continuing on with the foiling I decided to try foiling my Charms Creations DIY Star, and guess what? It worked! Last for the foiling was my title, which I wrote onto cardstock with the toner pen and then added the gold and cut around. Can you see some of the other gorgeous gold goodies? There is a gold foil flair from Flutterby Designs and a gold foiled vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour. It all looks so pretty in this gold cluster!

I wanted to add some other interest on the background so used some gold texture paste from Faber Castell and a script stencil. I had some gorgeous gold foiled vellum and a doily which I used to mat my photos and finished off with some gold glitter stars and embossed stickers.

And just when you think I couldn't add in any more gold, I used my gold motex tape to do my journaling!

It might be gold overload but I love it!

Charms Creations Map Marker Challenge

Have you seen the Aussie Day challenge at Charms Creations to use a Map Marker? Check out the Facebook event here, and check out the Map Markers in the store here. The only real criteria for the challenge is to use a Map Marker and on the project tell us where you were or where you live. Easy!

So I got myself some of the cool Aussie Day Map Marker specials and this is what I created.

It was lucky that we had been into the city recently and I had these photos of the cool Brisbane sign, and the colouring worked perfectly with the green and gold!

I love layering with my Charms Creations and word stickers and wood veneers are perfect for this! I also couldn't go past using this Rainbow Splendour wood veneer word for my title.

And here is the important Map Marker. As it already had a button I created a kind of cluster around with a word sticker and a cut out stamped image. I have made it a goal to use my stamps much more this year.

And here is my favourite texture paste again! Colour Blast in sunshine.

OK, now it is your turn to use a Map Marker and share where you were!

More Scrapbooking Memories Sharing

Thought I should finish off the Scrapbooking Memories sharing! Only a few more to go, promise!

These first three were all about using one sketch in different ways.

The next three are about how to use inspiration boards.

And finally, the last two were about creating Christmas pages without using Christmas themed papers/embellishments.

So, that rounds out my year with SBM mag. It was a fun year and great experience but it disappeared really quickly!

Thanks for stopping by, I will be back soon to share new month challenge reveals!
