Scrap the Girls February

Thought I had better jump on and share my sample for the Scrap the Girls February challenge! This month we have a pretty awesome inspiration board, and I just loved it!

I think it was the gold that made it for me! And gold combined with black, such a striking combination and that is what I went with on my page. I also had a play with some different techniques and ideas and I really love the page that I finished with.

Lots and lots of gold! Lucky I have been collecting gold or I would have been stuffed! I started with using my Minc toner pen (when it was working, but that is another story...) to create dots on the black background, they are roughly in line and similar size but some do tend to veer off with their own ideas! I foiled these with gold (of course!) and that gave me my starting point.

Continuing on with the foiling I decided to try foiling my Charms Creations DIY Star, and guess what? It worked! Last for the foiling was my title, which I wrote onto cardstock with the toner pen and then added the gold and cut around. Can you see some of the other gorgeous gold goodies? There is a gold foil flair from Flutterby Designs and a gold foiled vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour. It all looks so pretty in this gold cluster!

I wanted to add some other interest on the background so used some gold texture paste from Faber Castell and a script stencil. I had some gorgeous gold foiled vellum and a doily which I used to mat my photos and finished off with some gold glitter stars and embossed stickers.

And just when you think I couldn't add in any more gold, I used my gold motex tape to do my journaling!

It might be gold overload but I love it!

Thanks for stopping by,

Scrap the Boys - April Challenge

So, being a new month and all, it is time for some new challenges! The new one up at Scrap the Boys is a mood board:

Pretty isn't it? I decided to go with the soft greeny blue colours and added some peachy colour too that is seen in one of the photos. I scrapped about my gorgeous little nephew, some photos that I had of him playing in the park (in his own unique way of course!).

Lots of great D-lish goodies on this page, and also a Charms Creations super star!

I love using Motex from D-lish, and this time I used the clear one and mounted on some of the patterned paper that I used in my page and trimmed it down, perfect co-ordination!

Now, don't forget to check out our sponsors too! Without them we just don't have a challenge blog. And check out all the inspiration from the rest of the team here, and there will be a mid-month reveal too.

Faber Castell have generously donated a pack of gelatos!

So, now it is your turn to go and Scrap the Boys!

February at Scrap the Boys

Another challenge up at Scrap the Boys and this is such a great one! I had been waiting for just the right opportunity on how to scrap this particular story about Liam and when I saw this challenge knew it was perfect. So what is the challenge I hear you ask, well this is:

I imagine you can all think of funny things that come out of the mouths of your boys/men, and that is what makes this such a great challenge.

So this is my page:

The first thing you need to understand is that we are big Dr Who fans. The main picture was of a statue I came across in a winery in the Stanthorpe region and the first thing I thought of when I saw it was the Weeping Angels on Dr Who. Which worked in perfectly with the story.

The full story: Liam was wandering around the house and Erin was following him, but stopping still every time Liam turned around (which is kind of what the Weeping Angels do, but in a much scarier way). Eventually Liam had enough and shouted at her " Erin will you stop, you are not a Weeping Angel". This mad me laugh, mainly because it was an "only in this household" kind of moment and so many just wouldn't get it!

So I ended up finding some images on-line that I printed and punched to act as my accents on the page, the tardis and a couple of weeping angels.

And I also used some brushed pewter distress stain spray from Tim Holtz. Wow, this stuff is great! I have some in antiqued bronze that I can't wait to use too!

So check out the other great pages from the team here, and have a think about the things your boys/men say.

And we must not forget a shout out to our sponsors too. This month they are:

Flutterby Designs
A prize pack worth $15 from Flutterby Designs would be awesome!

Faber Castell
These guys are donating two small packs of gelatos!

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see your work in the gallery soon.
