Scrap the Girls - Janurary 2018

Good Morning! Almost the end of January, can you believe it?! Today I am sharing my take on the inspiration board, more of a colour palette over at Scrap the Girls.

And here is my take (please note that my DD1 is not impressed with me using this photo!!!):

I have used lots of gorgeous blue tones from the Cocoa Vanilla Bohemian Dream collection, and also dies cuts and stickers. For my background I mixed some Duke shimmer dust from Colour Blast with some texture paste to create the perfect blue.

Also layered in there are some Charms Creations DIY Banners, which I cut up!!! Yes, I cut them in half and used them in two different places!

Here is the top half, just like a little tab!

And the other one, layered with other bits and pieces.

Scrap the Boys - January 2018

Well it has been a long time between posts. Many challenges are moving to Facebook now, making the blog less and less necessary, so I can see it is only a matter of time before it won't be used...

But until then I will still pop in with the odd post! Today I am sharing the January challenge for Scrap the Boys which is to use flowers on a boy page. Easy!

And this is my take:

I had this great Boys Fort collection from Pink Fresh Studio that I had yet to use, so using that was my first challenge (for myself!). I had this great picture of my two boys and decided that some flowers cut from the patterned papers would be a good way to go. I used a free cut file from Paper Issues and cut some hibiscus flowers and leaves in a couple of different papers and sizes, then I was half way there. I used some distress oxide ink in antique linen with a triangle stencil to break up the white just a bit too.

I used mostly the coordinating embellishments that I had for the collection, but added a Charms Creations black and tan arrow (which was a perfect colour addition by the way!) layered with a few bits and pieces.

Another little cluster with a wood epoxy, word sticker and some tags. I used some brown paper twine in the tags and secured them with my tiny attacher (one of my favourite tools!).

Well, that is all from me for now, thanks for stopping by and catch you later.

Scrap the Boys August Challenge

Back today to share my take on the Scrap the Boys August challenge to scrap your boy/man using a 5x7 or larger photo. I chose to scrap my boy, here is my page:

This photo still makes me laugh! I caught the cats trying to "help" my boy eat his breadroll, yes they wanted some of his breadroll... our cats are strange! It was a bit of a challenge to scrap a photo this big, I am so used to 4x6 or smaller! But I am happy with the end result. Lots of Aussie products on this page too! Colour Blast, Cocoa Vanilla, Charms Creations, Rainbow Splendour, Burdy's Embellies and Flutterby Designs! Phew! What a line up!

Of course I had to use a cat Charms Creations heart!! I don't think there are any of these left now, but you can still get all kinds of different hearts here.

And how cute is the cat paperclip from Burdy's Embellies?! I love the felt chevrons from Rainbow Splendour too, so easy to use.

So that is it for today, thanks for stopping by.

Stuck?! August 1 challenge

Popping in to share my take on the first sketch on the Stuck?! blog for August. Here is the sketch:

And here is my page:

And since Charms Creations is a sponsor this month I have made sure to include a Charms heavenly heart in a newer combination of black and tan, I am loving this neutral yet striking combination.

I love how the cork works so well with the black and tan Charms Creation. And how cute is the little heart in texture paste?!

I also used some Rainbow Splendour goodies on my page that worked perfectly with the photos of my niece. I adore the bunny wood veneer and epoxy!

Well that's it for today, thanks for stopping by,

Show Us Your Stuff - July

I also manged to get the Show Us Your Stuff July challenge completed this month. This one was a theme of "Back to Nature", here is the mood board that went along with the challenge:

Image may contain: text and outdoor

I had some photos of lichen and fungus that I had been wanting to scrap and they seemed like the perfect choice for this challenge. This is the page that I ended up with:

I loved the intensity of orange and how they looked just like mini landscapes, so I tried to keep the page fairly neutral and let the orange shine.

Lots of Rainbow Splendour bits and pieces on this page. Some new, some older but all fitting with the back to nature theme!

Love the wood veneer that Chloe adds to her kits (courtesy of Corbett Creations!).

Stuck?! July 1 sketch

Well, July is quickly disappearing so I thought I had better get this page loaded before the month completely disappears! This page I created for Stuck?! Sketches first sketch of the month, which looks like this:

Charms Creations is one of the sponsors for this sketch, so I thought I should definitely add some to my page! This is what I came up with:

I am loving yellow at the moment, such a bright happy colour and also appropriate for this page about Hufflepuff! I found a "Harry Potter" type free font on-line and cut my title, and also found a Hufflepuff crest that I did a print and cut on to finish it off.

These pastel yellow "X's and O's" from Charms Creations were the perfect add for this page.

Besides lots of yellow, a touch of pink, black and craft helped round out this page.

July Scrap the Boys Challenge

Well, it has been a while since I have managed a Scrap the Boys challenge, but with having a little down time between semesters I have managed to fit this one in! Yay me! This month is an awesome sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

I have used lots of Rainbow Splendour bits from one of their most recent kits as well as some Charms Creations. I also challenged myself to use only some papers from a 6x6 paper pad, this was an old Shimelle line, Starshine, the sketch was perfect for using these sized papers!

A close up of the cluster with some Rainbow Splendour bits.

And the other cluster, using some tabs and a flag to make a banner, finished off with some more RS goodies!

It was great to finally get these photos of my boy scrapped too! Thanks for stopping by,

Kraft+ July Challenge

So, I have only just finished the June challenge and here I am back with the July challenge! This month is an interesting challenge to use roses three ways.

And here is my page:

So can you pick my roses three ways? I firstly used a rose stencil on the background with distress oxide ink, I just love the soft, chalky result of this ink. Second, I stamped roses on paper and coloured them with Colourblast shimmer cubes and then cut them out, and then lastly I turned a Charms Creations "O" into a rose with another stencil and Colourblast texture paste. I really love how the big rose turned out!

Here is a close up of the Charms Creations rose, you can find "O's" in the shop here.

And here is a close up of the stamped and coloured roses.

Charms Creations is a sponsor this month, so make sure you have a go so you have a chance to win some goodies for yourself!

Kraft Plus June Challenge

Wow, two months since my last post. Life certainly has been cramping my crafting time and style lately! But back to share a last minute page for the June Kraft Plus challenge, which was to use Kraft plus one other colour (black and white ok). I chose to use yellow, one of my favourite colours at the moment, bright and happy!

And some close ups...

Lots of D-lish Scraps goodies and of course a Charms Creations, and my new favourite "toy" distress oxide ink on my background. Must say, I held off on the distress oxide inks, but now I am addicted and have just put in an order for the 12 new colours!

Another quick blog

Been bogged down with uni assignment work and mid-semester quizzes so scrapping hasn't been happening.... insert sad face.... I did manage a couple of pages over Easter (made sure I had some down time!), but hadn't got to blogging anything. Popping in for a quick share of the page that I created for the Show Us Your Stuff recipe challenge.

Image may contain: 1 person, text

And the page that I created:

Bright and colourful! I love how the yellow background brings the pops of yellow in my nieces shirt out. Lots of handmade goodies on this page too. RS flag, pretty pin and wood veneer (courtesy Corbet Creations), pink banners from Charms Creations and flair from D-lish Scraps.

Well, need to get back to my assignment. Exams are looming!

Quick, get them blogged!

Getting in at the last minute to blog two challenge pages! I have Kraft+ and Show Us Your Stuff challenges for March completed and I thought I probably should blog them and submit them before it was too late!

The Kraft+ challenge was a denim revolution and many of the creative team and others were hacking into denim clothes for the challenge, me, well I decided to print myself some denim, so no clothes were harmed in the making of my page!

I also have gone with the new motto of keeping my pages relatively simple, so I can actually get pages done in the small amounts of spare time that I have. So here is my denim revolution page:

So a simple page, with a printed denim pocket and some printed denim paper as a photo mat and also used to punch some butterflies from. I used some of the very pretty new Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart collection too, loving this one.

And how appropriate is the Charms Creations green and light denim heart for this challenge?! Loving all the light denim Charms at the moment, there is even a denim heading at the shop now to find all things denim!

So that is number one challenge, now for number two, this is Show Us Your Stuff which was a this or that kind of challenge.

Image may contain: text

I went with - Stars, sequins, washi and spots, and my handmade items came from Rainbow Splendour and Charms Creations (yes denim again!). Here is my page:

Stars on my washi tape and with texture past on the background and one big denim star! Spots on my bow and also on the star and sequins sprinkled around. All requirements ticked off!

Can you see the spots hiding in the denim star? It teams so well with the bow from Rainbow Splendour.

And I love these chevron circles from Rainbow Splendour, the red was a perfect add for a pop of colour on this page about Lego.

So, that is it from my quick update. Thanks for stopping by,

Scrap the Boys February Challenge

Back for another February challenge share. Today I am sharing my take on the Scrap the Boys challenge, which is to scrap your boys/men and something new.

I decided to scrap my boy and his first day of high school - a new school and a new phase in his life too. I also decided to use my new Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart collection, challenging myself to use it for a boy page, and it was no trouble at all! Here is what I created:

There were lots of lovely blue tones in this paper collection and they worked perfectly with my photo and Liam's blue shirt. I love the watercolour paper, it is just divine, I am starting to think I may end up needing more of this collection!

I used some of the chipboard and phrase stickers from the collection also, teamed with some Rainbow Splendour goodies here.

And my new favourites in the Charms Creations store, light denim, in this case with blue, teamed perfectly with this page. Add in a cool arrow from Rainbow Splendour and a few other bits and we have a great embellishment cluster.

And in the spirit of trying to use up things that I have, here is an old frame from a Crate Paper collection (I think...), a great way to frame the writing on the photo.
