Scrap the Girls - March

I am on a roll! Another challenge completed and still a week left in March! This time I have had a go at the Scrap the Girls March challenge, which is to include doilies and/or hearts on your "girl" page. Given I have two girls I should have plenty of photos to scrap. But, now that they are teenagers this is getting harder! Lucky they will put up with my "back to school photo" request! So here is my page which has one heart and one doily.

I had some fun trying some new techniques with this one. I mixed some gelatos in with my texture past to colour it before using with my mask, then used the same colour to create some watercolour drips. Loving the watercolour look on my pages.

Oh, have I told you about a great cardstock that I have discovered?! It is a smooth cardstock by Bazzill from a range called Card Shoppe, the white is called "marshmallow". It is great because it can take a bit more water based treatment without buckling than most usual cardstocks. It is not as heavy duty as proper water colour or mixed media paper, but it is pretty good. No buckling from the watercolour on this page, and my D'Lish scraps page, which has a lot of watered ink on it, barely buckled at all! Way cool!

Otherwise, I decided to give my doily a little more interest with some bronze embossing on the edges, another look I love at the moment - metallics! Think I need some gold powder now!

Thanks for stopping by.

March Sketch - Anna's Craft Cupboard

Back so soon! Nothing like a sketch to help you whip up a page quickly! And Anna's Craft Cupboard always have a great sketch each month! This is March's sketch created by Kylie:

And this is my interpretation of the sketch:

I have has these photo's of Liam sitting around for a while just waiting to be scrapped and just so happened that there were three of them, just like the sketch! Perfect match I say! I love it when a page comes together quickly!

Still some time to do the sketch too if you are wanting some inspiration!

D'Lish Scraps - March Inspiration Board

Wow, is it just me or is March flying by?! Well I have managed to do one challenge so far, still sorting and cleaning my scrap area so it has been harder to find time to sit and play, not to mention remembering where I have put everything!

I have decided to play along with D'Lish Scraps inspiration board. I spent six lovely months on the Creative Team for D'Lish and really enjoyed the boards that Amanda came up with each month, now I get to join in on the other side! This month's board really spoke to me, especially the colours which are so vibrant!

Aren't the colours just divine?! So my inspiration came first and foremost from the colours, then the flowers and lastly the little bit of gold in one of the pictures. So here is my result:

This was a fun page to create! Firstly I cut the dandelion flower pattern with my Silhouette using acetate to create a re-usable mask. I was so impressed with how well it cut the intricate detail! Have I mentioned lately how much I love this machine??!! With the mask in place I used some Faber Castell glaze medium over the mask which dries with a gloss and resists the ink which I added next. I used the bright Dylusion spray mists with a paintbrush, and when it was dry I wiped over the pattern to remove any excess ink.  A few splats of Mr Huey's Passport for some contrast, my photos, bits and pieces from D'Lish, gold flowers cut from gold foil paper, a title and my journalling and we're done!

Well, hopefully I can get some more challenges done before the end of the month, but if the first 3 weeks is anything to go by my chances are small!

Oh, did I mention that I was the lucky winner of the Anna's Craft Cupboard sketch challenge for February! I was stoked to hear about that one! You can see my entry in this post here.

Until next time!

March White With One

Have you checked out WW1 for March yet? It seems to be a popular colour choice as we have had 17 entries already and it is only 10 days into March! What is the colour I hear you ask?! This month we are playing with Latte!  A great neutral colour that you can do so much with. The creative team was also very lucky to get some A2Z Scraplets products to play with on our pages.

This is what I came up with -

I just loved the A2Z mask that I used for my background, playing with some texture paste and paints, and check out the cool A2Z chipboard, so much fun!

For more inspiration go and check out the rest of the WW1 page, and then have a go yourself!
