Scrap the Girls - January

I have been doing some scrapping for me! Yay! Been a little while. With school going back and normal routine settling in hopefully there will be more happening too.

I decided to have a go at the sketch that is up over at Scrap the Girls this month.

And for my take I rotated the sketch by 90 degrees to suit my portrait photo.

So instead of lots of embellishments to create the cluster around the photo I decided to use a Donna Downey stencil and coloured texture paste to create a flowery cluster like background. Love the intensity in the hot pink and green in the texture paste. I got this colour using Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals powders.

A close up of the stencil work. I added some cute little Little Birdie flowers that I picked up from D-lish Scraps.

A few tab and word stickers layered amongst the patterned paper layers. I used pickled raspberry distress stain to create my splatters. So much fun doing this and I love Tim's range of brighter colours.

Chipboard title was embossed with some gold tinsel embossing powder, love using gold at the moment.

So, there you have it. Scrap the Girls for January.

Thanks for stopping by,

Cyber Crop Scrapping at D-lish Scraps

Hey there, this weekend saw the first cyber crop for D-lish Scraps. What was really nice was having some time to try some of the challenges myself! I also set the colour challenge for this month too. If you want to join the D-lish Scraps community on Facebook click on the link to join here on the blog.

It is not too late to join and participate. The challenges don't need to be completed until this coming Friday 23rd January.

Anyway, I have got off topic haven't I?! I chose to do Anna's challenge which was to create a page with pockets and no photos! A real challenge!

Doesn't Anna's sample look fantastic. This one really stumped me, but then I had a brain wave (must be the heat and humidity in Brisbane at the moment!), and thought I would use the pocket as a hidden journaling space and talk about dreams for the new year. So here is what I finished with:

First thing, see how many flowers that I have used! See I can do big flower clusters if I want to!!!

Here is a close up of the flowers.

So many gorgeous flowers to choose from at D-lish Scraps!

And my journal card, which was a 6x4 project life card with a tag attached.

So there you have it!

I will be back later with another challenge and also my challenge.

Until then, thanks for stopping by.

Now if you remember the challenge for this month is to scrap your boy/man using this inspiration board:

And this is my page:

I was inspired by the oranges and the blues and couldn't go past the silver and stars too. So many great things to inspire with this board. Make sure you have a go and enter the challenge.

Catching Up on Project Life

Now don't laugh.... I am way behind on my Project Life album. Thank goodness that I only put together monthly spreads! I have now completed Feb, March and April from last year. But I have printed out photos and laid them out for May, June and July. So that just means August - December and 2014 is done! Easy Peasy!

I have been inspired to get in and get finished by the new Life Zesters challenge blog. A blog dedicated to all things PL! They give inspiration, hints and challenges too, just what you need to get going with your PL scrapping.

This month the challenge is to "show us your style", so I have gone and started playing catch-up and I hope my very late (date wise that is) spread still counts for the challenge.

February 2014
I have decided to include February as my challenge spread. It definitely shows my style, which is including the everyday and special monthly occasions using colour and plenty of stamping. If I had to use one word to sum up my PL style, that would be stamping. I love using stamps on my PL, it is such an easy way to personalise each spread and add something without being overwhelming.

 March 2014

 April 2014

So, I guess I had better get back to it. After all I have many months to get done!

All in all I was pleased with my pages and had a lot of fun creating them.

January White with One

So firstly, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Now, let's see what the new colour is for WW1!

January sees is looking at Placid Blue over at WW1, a pretty blue and appropriate for our summer season of blue water and blue skies!

We are also teaming with Sketchabilities this month so we were given a fabulous sketch to use in our creations.

I have to admit that my blue isn't as perfect a match as I first thought it was, I ended up with a blue that is a bit more green, but that's ok. So here is my page:

And don't forget to check out this month's sponsors too:

Imaginarium Designs
Scrap Matrix
2Crafty Chipboard
Flutterby Designs

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see your pages up at WW1.

December Catch Up

Wow, December really does disappear in a flurry of activity and celebrations!

I thought I would take this opportunity to post a few bits and pieces of catch up from this month. Mainly my creating for D-lish Scraps for December.

I was lucky enough to post on Christmas Day for D-lish so of course I had to create one Christmas themed page. Interestingly I am not an overly keen "theme" scrapper in that I don't buy up on the Christmas papers or embellishments, I prefer to keep my stash versatile and scrap with that rather than buying day specific things. And scrapping Christmas was not a problem, especially given my gold fetish!

I found some papers (Maggie Holmes Open Book) which did the job nicely and of course lots of great embellishments and extras from my extensive D-lish stash! Ta Da a Christmas page!

My second post for the month was based on a cyber crop challenge from the lovely Cindy. This was to use an earthy toned palette with the twist of using travel photos. Well the travel photos was the easy part. Finding earthy tones in my collection was a whole lot harder! I am just a bright and colourful kind of gal! But I did find some things and I am really pleased with the final outcome.

My last page was inspired by Alz's blind scrap challenge, also done at the last cyber crop. Another page that I was quite pleased with how it finished up!

I just love how these colours work together and I just love Amy Tan's Stitched collection, just beautiful!

Also on the scrappy radar, I am happy to announce that I am on the new Scrap the Boys team! Yay! So make sure you check them out this year! Lots of fun ahead there.

Well, that is a pretty good round up of December. Hopefully I will get to sit and craft soon, although I am feeling the urge to tidy/sort my craft space first!
