Scrapbooking Top 50 February Challenge

So here we are in February, a super busy month for our family. Hopefully not so busy for you so that you have time to complete the Scrapbooking Top 50 challenge this month. This month is a great sketch:

Charms Creations is a sponsor this month too, so a good opportunity to maybe win yourself some goodies to play with!

Here is my page:

When I picked out this photo, I just knew that I had to add some touches of purple to my page. I used some of the Colour Blast shimmer dust in velvet to create my water colour background and I also used it to colour my terrific tab from Charms Creations. The great thing about DIY or white Charms is you can make them whatever colour you need them to be, a great staple in any collection!

I also had a purple arrow that I had to use and I layered it with a flair from D-lish Scraps and some bits from Burdy's Embellies.

Here is the coloured tab along with a wood veneer from Rainbow Splendour and the insides of the arrow in the bottom cluster.

So, now you have seen my take on the sketch, it is time for you to have a go too!

Thanks for stopping by,

Last Day for Scrapbooking Top 50 January Challenge

Did you get a chance to do the January challenge at SBT50? It was a great quote to inspire:

And you could be inspired by the colours and patterns in the image too, which I was! Love any opportunity to add a bit of gold to the mix! So this is the page that I created inspired by the image and quote:

I used part of the quote as my title and the colours of mint, blue and gold, lots of gold! Can you spy some of the Burdy's Embellies on my page too?  I used a rainbow splendour stencil with some gold texture paste and I loved how it came out.

There is a gold and black hexagon layered with a DIY banner from Charms Creations.

And check out the sweet gold spotty button near my title, perfect little finishing touch!

So hurry if you haven't done yours yet, you still have a little bit of time!

It has been a while...

So, one could say that the year kind of got away from me there! The last few months were a blur of assignments, exams, kindy photos, primary school graduation, birthdays and finally Christmas. But now, I have some time to rest and even catch up a little on what I have been doing. I didn't manage much scrapping in that time either, but I am trying to make up for that now. I think I have pulled off five pages in two days! Yay me!

Today I am going to share a new page (hopefully I will get caught up on what I haven't shared later...) created for the Show Us Your Stuff blog, which is being sponsored by Rainbow Splendour. This month is a sketch, which is perfect for the busy month of December. I even decided to do a holidays themed page, and I used the December Hip Kit for most of my bits and pieces. I have been loving their kits and decided to order a few this year as a treat for myself. I am not ready to subscribe just yet, but maybe down the track that will happen...

So here is the sketch:

And here is my page:

Lots of handmade goodies on my page, and I had great fun creating a non-traditional Christmas themed page using pretty colours.

Here is my Charms Creations Star paired with half a vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour.

This little cluster has a button and silver glitter star from Burdy's Embellies (one of her gorgeous kits).

A pretty pin with a pretty wood veneer star from Rainbow Splendour, and the cute little silver stars are from the same Burdy's Embellies kit that I mentioned earlier.

And this cute star paperclip was also in the kit from Burdy's Embellies.

So, I managed to sneak this one in just before the end of the month, maybe I will go and see if I can squeeze another challenge in before the month ends!

The Block - SBT50 Style

Have you been following the Scrapbook Top 50 "The Block" challenges? Look for the group on Facebook if you haven't, it is a lot of fun, and we are in to the second week with plenty more to come. Each week you are given rooms (2 to choose from) to inspire you or with things you need to include, today I am going to share with you the page that I made for the first week, "bedroom week". This was the inspiration:

Lots to be inspired about in this photo and the colour scheme is simply gorgeous. This is the page that ended up with, and it was all about the colours paired with the crisp white.

I have included goodies from some a couple of our sponsors on the page too. There are Burdy's Embellies and a Charms Creations too.

This Charms Creations pastel hessian heart was the perfect colour match for this page, and I just love layering with these, adding word strips, flair and die-cuts underneath.

Isn't this bookpaper heart button cute?! It is a special design from Burdy's Embellies. See the little wood veneer flower on top? That was coloured using gelatos, just smudged into the wood, it is my new favourite way to colour wood veneer.

I really love how these colours look against the crisp white, such a fun challenge! Maybe we will see you join in too?!

Thanks for stopping by,

Katie x

This next bit is a special for my good friend's little girl Katy....

Hi Katy,

I am not sure that I have the original choc chip cookie recipe that your mum remembers, but this is the one I use now that my kid's love and everyone who tries it loves too! The trick is to use more choc chips than what the recipe says! (I love chocolate!!)

Choc Chip Cookies

125g softened butter
1/2 cup raw sugar
1/3 cup + 2 tespoons soft brown sugar firmly packed
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (although I am known not to measure this and up to 1 teaspoon is OK)
1 large egg
2/3 cup self raising flour
1 cup plain flour
1 cup of choc chips (I usually add 1 1/2 - 2 cups, I get the buttons and break them into smaller chunks and also do a mix of dark, milk and white chocolate)

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper. (You will probably need two trays for baking)
Cream the butter and sugars until light in colour and the sugar has dissolved, add the vanilla and egg and mix well.
Using a wooden spoon slowly add the flours mixing well to form a dough.
Add the choc chips and blend through the dough.
Put spoons full of the mix onto a tray leaving some room for them to expand (just how big or small you make them is up to you!)
Bake for about 10 - 12 minutes (this may vary a little depending on the size of the cookie and how dark you like the colour, I like mine lighter and a little chewy so this timing is usually pretty good).

Make sure you get mum to take a photo of you with your cookies when you make them to send to me!

Lots of love, big Katie xxx

Rainbow Splendour Share

Good Morning! Back today with another share, this time from Rainbow Splendour, who is gearing up for a sale this week too!

Last month coinciding with the release of two fabulous kits were two inspiration boards and challenges to use the kits. Here are the two boards:

Gorgeous aren't they?! Well I have created pages using both kits and inspiration from each board and today I will share my Wild Adventure page.

I was inspired by the idea of adventures and the colour palatte and used a photo of a family bush walk.

Can you see all the lovely bits from the kit?! There is the wood veneer planes, the map pinwheel and frame, the plane vellum and embossed card. And the great thing was there was still left overs and I will be able to create at least another page with those bits and pieces!

I love the texture from the embossed card. And I have added in a Charms Creations in one of my new favourite colours, sea green, not to mention the awesome cogs that match perfectly from Burdy's Embellies.

Loving this tangerine dream texture paste from Colour Blast, such a vibrant colour!

Aren't these wood veneer planes just too cute! Perfect for little boys pages or travel pages or just about anything really!

Show Us Your Stuff March

Well, today I am back to share a page that I created for the Show Us Your Stuff challenge. This month is a sketch.

I kind of flipped mine, like a mirror flip, well you will get it when you see it!

I also managed to use lots of "handmade" goodies too. Not made by me, but things from small Aussie business that do make things themselves! Can you spot them all?

Here I have used a Burdy's Embellies spotty button. It is great to layer with and create a small cluster with my journalling.

In this cluster is a D-lish Scraps flair, a Charms Creations heavenly heart and part of a vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour who also happen to be a sponsor this month!

More Rainbow Splendour goodness here, the other half of the bow, a wood veneer cloud and also a pretty pin.

When I cut the bow to use I realised that it kind of reminded me of a fish tail, which I thought was super cool given the page is about my son playing in the water!

So, there you have it, my page for SUYS with lots and lots of handmade goodness! I hope you get a chance to play too, with Rainbow Splendour as a sponsor it is worth it!

1, 2, 3 Challenge

Charms Creations sponsors all kinds of great challenges and this month one of those challenges is the 1, 2, 3 Challenge blog where you are given three key criteria for your creation (a colour, a word and a technique). This is the criteria for this month:

Now how can you go wrong with red and hearts, and including the word lovely was easy enough too! Here is my finished page:

I used all kinds of great goodies on my page, and I had been waiting for the perfect time to use this beautiful MME collection and it was just right for this page and photos. The soft pink texture paste is from Shimmerz and is such a pretty soft colour and was perfect with the heart stencil (Scrap FX) to add some subtle background detail.

I have been experimenting with the vellum bows from Rainbow Splendour and decided to cut one in half and place on either side of the the circle Charms Creation (which just happened to be spotty and a red and a perfect match), it kind of looks like a lolly or sweet now! I love how it turned out.

One of the patterned papers had these cool string art hearts that were just begging to be cut out, so I did! They were great for layering around the page, and here layered with a Burdy's Embellie red spotty button, wood veneer and word sticker.

The title was a print and cut created using my Silhouette and then foiled in light pink, and finished with some hand writing above.

This cute little felt heart was a special that came with one of my Rainbow Splendour orders, and well.... it just fit the brief and tied in with the Charms felt too.

There you have it! My 1, 2, 3 Challenge completed.

Thanks for stopping by,

Katie

Scrapbooking Top 50 January Challenge

You may remember that I revealed that I am now creating for the Scrapbooking Top 50 challenge site, so that means another challenge to share with you.

This month is a nice and easy sketch, something to ease into the new year with! The sponsors this month are Rainbow Splendour and Burdy's Embellies and I just so happened to have some goodies from both of these awesome hand made embellishment business to use!

And this is what I came up with:

I am just loving the soft and pretty colours together. The papers are from an Amy Tangerine line (I think or perhaps Dear Lizzy). And that cool triangle stencil is a Basic Grey one.

Loving the glitter foam die cuts from Burdy's Embellies, and they come in all kinds of colours and shapes!

Some of the newest wood veneer from Rainbow Splendour.

I used some Colour Blast paste in sunshine and I was hoping this picture might show the pearly shimmer, but it doesn't quite do it justice! I can tell you though, this paste is awesome to work with, so buttery and easy to spread and such vivid colours. I have just ordered myself a few more to play with and I am sure that I will be ordering more sooner rather than later!

More wood veneer from Rainbow Splendour. This cute little rainbow I coloured in with gelatos, trying to look a little like kid's colouring with crayons, like my nieces in the photo!

Time for you to go and check out the sketch and the rest of the teams pages too!

Thanks for stopping by.

Scrapbooking Top 50 October Challenge

The Scrapbooking Top 50 challenge this month was a great sketch, and it was just the motivation to scrap a group of four photos that have been sitting in my photo pile for quite a while! So this is the sketch and due to the orientation of my photos I decided to rotate it.

And this is how my page finished up:

I had fun matching paints and sprays to the colours in the towers and I am quite pleased with the results. A fairly simple page in the scheme of things, not a lot of product, but it was a lot of fun to create!

Using some of my Burdy's Embellies foam arrows. And of course my page staple, a journal spot from D-lish Scraps! I am loving this stamp from Kaisercraft too.

So there you have it, my take on the Scrapbooking Top 50 October sketch!

Thanks for stopping by,
