Fun with Embossing

Over at the Scrap Suite Facebook group (run by D-lish Scraps) we have just finished up our October Cyber crop. One of the challenges was to include embossing wet or dry on your page, this was set by the lovely Cindy and her page was amazing!

Now, I always like a good challenge, and I have been seeing some embossing techniques that I have been wanting to give a go. So I thought no time like the present!

Here is the page that I came up with:

What I have done is a faux letter-press technique whereby I inked with a brayer one side of my embossing folder and then ran it through the machine. In this case I used one of the Tim Holtz card embossing folders and I used the Red Royal Hero Arts ink. Looks great doesn't it?! I also ran some plain vellum through to make the second card.

The other embossing, which is a little harder to see as it is hidden behind stuff (in the close up below it is the bigger dot behind the black with white dotty paper), is metallic embossing powder on vellum with a dots background stamp. I love this look! I used Pewter Metallic Zing from American Crafts. I also love the look of the Copper Zing.

And lastly, I decided to have a play with some of the D-lish coloured tulle, I think this one is silver. I just pinched it in and stapled with the Tim Holtz tiny attacher (love that thing!)  and created a border.

All in all a fun page to create! And I encourage you to go and ask to join the Scrap Suite and join in on the next cyber crop!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cyber Crop over at The Scrap Suite

So, if you haven't checked it out already, I think you really need to go and ask to join The Scrap Suite Facebook Group. It is a closed group and it is a community of D-lish Scraps people who love to create with D-lish goodies! Once a month there is a fab cyber crop with some inspiring challenges to get you our of your comfort zone.

This month the sketch challenge was set by Ros and looked something like this:

Isn't the page adorable! I decided to do something a little differently for my take on the page. Instead of creating  pie chart as drawn, I decided to use a large doily for my circle background and used strips of coloured paper with faux stitching to represent the pieces of the pie. So I ended up with this page:

Lots of D-lish goodies in here. The flowers, the bottle cap, the resin heart, the doilies, the motex tape and the Pink Fresh brad sticker.

So go and check out The Scrap Suite for yourself and join in on all the fun!

Scrap the Girls October

Well, I have been busy at work creating all kinds of pages, it's just that I can't share any of them yet! But I have managed another challenge. I decided to play along with Scrap the Girls this month, I was really drawn to their mood board, the colours particularly. Here is the mood board:

As I mentioned I was drawn to the colours, specifically the pink, orange and aqua. Here is the page I created (inspired by a page that I had pinned ages ago).

I love this photo of Erin. It was from the day we played laser skirmish in the bush for Liam's 10th birthday, and given Erin didn't really want to play at first you can see by the pose she embraced it in the end!

I love how one of  Charm's Creations hearts matched beautifully with this page, throw in a few Pink Fresh wood hearts from D'lish Scraps and of course a bitty paper bag and the page was just about complete!

Definitely a fun page!

Thanks for stopping by.

Scrap the Boys October

Well, school holidays have finished and we are in the downhill run to the end of the year. It is hard to believe we are approaching the end of another year. I swear this one has gone by even faster than previous ones!

I managed to steal some time to myself at the end of the break to sit at my desk and play, and my go to place to start is one of the great challenge blogs that we have out there. Scrap the Boys caught my attention because the theme for the month is - Technology Savvy. And since my Liam bought himself an iPad mini with his birthday money and has been obsessed ever since I thought that was the perfect story!

So here is my finished page:

I have been having a great time playing with my Silhouette lately, more to come on that later, and decided to grab an apple logo and title to trace and cut for my title. Turned out pretty well, and it was a great finish to the page! There is also a little bit of D'lish goodies on there too, the flair, twine, star button and today tab. It is always easy to add a little bit of something from D'lish!!

Here are a couple of close ups too:

I also played with a new stencil, plus signs (I think it is called positive), a Kaiser Craft one. I used some pumice stone distress ink to give a subtle background and not overwhelm the papers.

Anyway, that is all for now.

Thanks for stopping by.

Playing with Chipboard

A little while ago, back in August actually, I was a lucky winner of a Facebook competition with Imaginarium Designs chipboard. I was sent a generous pack of assorted chipboard pieces and was told to play! I have some special projects that will be shown on the Imaginarium Designs blog sometime during November so keep a look out for those. But until then here is one that I have created recently.

When I saw the train, I just knew that I had to use the photos from my nephews first birthday earlier this year! I coloured in the stars with a silver wink of luna metallic pen (amazing by the way!) and then covered in glossy accents to give some depth to the chipboard.

I also used some of the stars that were in assorted sizes. I covered the stars in red glitter Zing embossing powder from American Crafts. It added such a nice sparkle and finish to them!

I have had the opportunity to work with ID chipboard before in some of my WW1 projects, and they happen to be a sponsor this month too, so make sure you enter!

It is a lovely shade of purple, and right on trend this year too! And this is what I created:

(Funny I think my purple is a little pink... just goes to show you we all have some troubles matching the colour sometimes!)

So, make sure you go and check out the rest of the creative teams inspiration for radiant orchid and then have a go yourself!
