Last Minute July Challenge

Well, I have managed to sneak one last challenge for the month in. I decided to go with the Show Us Your Stuff challenge which was all about handwriting. Including it as a feature whether it is your own handwriting or belonging to someone else.

So here is the challenge prompt:

My page started with my photos and once I had them I knew where I wanted to go with the challenge. So here it is:

The page itself is a reasonably simple page, with the handwriting down the side forming part of the feature of the page. I found the text used in the beginning of the Star Wars movie (IV, A New Hope, the original first Star Wars of course!) and wrote that, unfortunately I skewed off a little as I wrote down, but hey, it's not about being perfect!

I chose to use a Charms Creations Super Star and a D-lish Scraps flair for my handmade embellishments.  I kept the colour scheme simple with silver, white and shades of blue.

Adding in more stars with the Freckled Fawn star paper clip from D-lish Scraps, also the date spot (love these!).

And here is a close up of the writing.

What a fun challenge!

Thanks for stopping by,

Katie x

Katie, this is such a quirky and fun layout, so cool that the journaling is the Star Wars story. I love your hand writing, and I love your layout. Thanks for joining us at Show Us Your Stuff.

Hehe, Katie this is such a cool LO, I'm so glad you got to play along with us at SUYS. I love how you used your handwriting to make a design feature as well as including some strip journalling.

I freakin' love this layout, it's so cool! I love, love, love that you used the text from the opening credits on it, it's just so perfect for these pics! The Charms star looks awesome layered with the D-lish flair and the Motex strip - cool combo! Thanks for playing along with us at SUYS! :)

(PS - you made me think of a funny memory too. When I went to see the first of the "new" Star Wars movies (Part I) on opening night. As you can imagine, the place was packed and full of anticipation at whether Lucas would do the earlier movies justice. As soon as the opening credits started to roll "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away" my friend sitting next to me yelled out to the whole cinema "not this one, I've seen this!" It was priceless!)
