Well, I have managed to sneak one last challenge for the month in. I decided to go with the Show Us Your Stuff challenge which was all about handwriting. Including it as a feature whether it is your own handwriting or belonging to someone else.
So here is the challenge prompt:
My page started with my photos and once I had them I knew where I wanted to go with the challenge. So here it is:
The page itself is a reasonably simple page, with the handwriting down the side forming part of the feature of the page. I found the text used in the beginning of the Star Wars movie (IV, A New Hope, the original first Star Wars of course!) and wrote that, unfortunately I skewed off a little as I wrote down, but hey, it's not about being perfect!
I chose to use a Charms Creations Super Star and a D-lish Scraps flair for my handmade embellishments. I kept the colour scheme simple with silver, white and shades of blue.
Adding in more stars with the Freckled Fawn star paper clip from D-lish Scraps, also the date spot (love these!).
And here is a close up of the writing.
What a fun challenge!

White with 1 July
Well, I have been busily creating away for lots of different things, but I have managed to do another July challenge. I decided to try my hand at the new colour over at WW1, this was a little challenging, it is a colour called Masala.
So it is a reddy brown kind of colour, and it turns out that Aged Mahogany distress ink is a pretty good match! So that is what I used to colour my bits and pieces for my page. This is what I finished up with:
I decided on these photos of my little brother getting his Land Rover henna tatto, mainly for the red door in the background and that the rest of the photo was fairly neutral in colour. Then I matted in black, I also coloured some Charms Creations DIY triangles (coming soon so keep a look out!) in a grungy kind of way and matted them also with black. There are some circles with stamps and texture paste and a flair button and in the punchinella too. Just a fun to make messy kind of page!
I coloured a white doily to match. And I love using touches of black for contrast on these kinds of layouts. Helps things to stand out.
Playing with some stamping too. A text background stamp from Kaisercraft and my circles from Indigo Blu!
I even found hiding in my stash a label in almost the right colour (an older Studio Calico collection).
Anyway, there you have it. It was a tricky colour, but once I found that distress ink match I was all good!

Scrap the Boys - Mid Month Reveal
During the week Scrap the Boys had their mid-month reveal for the July challenge, so that means I can now share my page! You still have plenty of time to join in this challenge and it is a great inspiration board challenge.
I just love the yellows and oranges in this board. So colour is an obvious choice for creating with, my other favourite piece of inspiration from this board is image #2, the painted circles, and this is what formed the basis for my page.
So to start with I recreated the circles using gelatos and water colour crayons on my background, these were roughly drawn and then smudged with water to soften. Afterwards I used some white gesso and white crayon to make some defined edges. I really love how this background turned out.
I just love using the Charms Creations chevrons, I think they are one of my favourite pieces as they can be used in so many ways. I also happened to have one yellow and one orange one that matched my page! I used them to for a cluster at the bottom and top of my page, mixed in with some D-lish Scraps goodies and some word stickers from Crate Paper (also a favourite at the moment!).
The top simple cluster helps balance out the page.
I kept the title simple and clean with this white thicker printshop font combined with some alpha stickers.
The other thing that I love about this page is the photos, the blue of Liam's shirt really sets off the oranges and yellows.
Make sure you go and check out the other mid-month reveals at Scrap the Boys and maybe have a go yourself.

D-lish Cyber Crop Share
Morning! Just wanted to drop in and share the challenge that I set for the D-lish Scraps cyber crop that is currently running. This challenge is due by the end of this week so there is not too much time left, but there will be new challenges up with a new cyber crop on Friday!
So mine was an inspiration challenge. Take inspiration from the following image:
And this is what I finished with:
I used two different FX Scrap stencils with some felt tip pens to create the background and sprinkled some sequins around for a bit of extra sparkle. The rest of the page is relatively simple, a couple of photos and embellishments and my favourite part the title. I tried to replicate the look of the handwriting from the inspiration image.
If you want to check out the challenges and entries head over to the blog here and join the Scrap Suite with the button in the side bar and then you can head over to the Facebook group and join the fun!

Scrap the Girls July Challenge
School holidays are over and routine has begun. So this means a little more time for day time scrapping while I do house work in between. This morning I decided to try the Scrap the Girls July challenge, which is a sketch this month. Sketches are such a great way to kickstart the creativity flow if you are not quite feeling it, and that is how I have been feeling for most of the past week. I really want to scrap, but I just wasn't feeling it. But this has got me going and I feel ready to embrace the creativity!
So, enough rambling, here is the sketch:
And this is my take on the sketch:
I decided to use the new Cocoa Vanilla Hello Lovely papers, I mean how much more girly can you get? I also played with a new stencil that I picked up recently, love the script look and it works so well with the script paper.
Sometimes it is easier to use something with words on for your title rather than having to come up with something of your own. And that is precisely what I have done, using a Pink Fresh Studio printed wood veneer.
I just love tucking in little word stickers in amongst my layers. A great way to add interest without too much bulk.
And of course I have added in a new Charms Creations embellishment, and to add interest I have stapled a foiled word circle to the centre. I am loving making some foiled embellishments at the moment. So much fun! This is the light pink from the Heidi Swapp Minc foils range.
Well, that is it for now. Hopefully the beginning of a creative week!

Kraft + July Challenge
Wow, I can't believe it is a July challenge already. This year is disappearing way too fast. Crazy talk, next we will be doing Christmas challenges!
Anyhoo, now I am over that shock, I am here to share my entry for the current Kraft + challenge which is this:
Pretty easy really, yellow paint, kraft base and inspiration from the photo. Given that I am crushing on yellow at the moment this challenge was a no brainer to do! This is what I came up with:
The start for this page came with the pictures, what better than sunflowers for a page with yellow! These show the sunflowers that my boy grew as part of a school project.
Then the paint. I used a flower Prima mask and scraped some yellow paint through to finish with a nice gentle raised texture. I really love how this stencil looks, and who said you can't have flowers on a boys page?!
The rest of my inspiration was from the layered/stacked look of the items in the photo. So I tried to create my own layered/stacked look with the photos and embellishments.
I used a white Charms Creations mini heavenly heart to replicate the white outline heart in the photo too, and the splash of white is just what the page needed.
Some of my bits and pieces, like the good stuff tag, I coloured with distress stains and distress inks to blend in with the yellow theme.
Loving the texture of the paint through the stencil. Might be using this technique some more!
And last of all a close up of the layered elements. Have to say I am really pleased with how this one came together! Thanks for a great challenge Sandra!

Mid Monthly Challenge for Charms Creations
Holidays! Lazy mornings and relaxed days, that is what is happening in our house right now and I am loving every moment of it! That and being able to sit at my desk all day (should I choose to of course!) is a luxury that I am taking while I can.
Now if you have the luxury of being able to scrap then you need to check out the Charms Creations mid monthly challenge. This time around it is a tic-tac-toe challenge which makes it a fun one to do, and do again even if you feel like it!
I decided to go the diagonal starting at the bottom left corner - Glitter/Something New/Mini Prints.
I used glitter washi tape, new Charms Creations noughts and crosses and some smaller 3x4 prints to complete my page. I love how it came together and I love these out take photos of my family!
For some extra glitter I also added some gold glitter enamel hearts to the centres of some of my O's in the cut out piece. I created this cut out piece in Silhouette Studio, very easy, just needed to decide the best font! And the X's and O's left over were used too.
I decided to use this special O with the cute button as a letter O in the title, the rest of the letters I simply drew onto cardstock and cut out then outlined with a white gel pen to look like the fabric one.
I just had to add another X and O to represent hugs and kisses for my family! Now make sure you head over to the shop and get yourself some of these great new shapes and have a go at the challenge too!
