Show Us Your Stuff - July

I also manged to get the Show Us Your Stuff July challenge completed this month. This one was a theme of "Back to Nature", here is the mood board that went along with the challenge:

Image may contain: text and outdoor

I had some photos of lichen and fungus that I had been wanting to scrap and they seemed like the perfect choice for this challenge. This is the page that I ended up with:

I loved the intensity of orange and how they looked just like mini landscapes, so I tried to keep the page fairly neutral and let the orange shine.

Lots of Rainbow Splendour bits and pieces on this page. Some new, some older but all fitting with the back to nature theme!

Love the wood veneer that Chloe adds to her kits (courtesy of Corbett Creations!).

Another quick blog

Been bogged down with uni assignment work and mid-semester quizzes so scrapping hasn't been happening.... insert sad face.... I did manage a couple of pages over Easter (made sure I had some down time!), but hadn't got to blogging anything. Popping in for a quick share of the page that I created for the Show Us Your Stuff recipe challenge.

Image may contain: 1 person, text

And the page that I created:

Bright and colourful! I love how the yellow background brings the pops of yellow in my nieces shirt out. Lots of handmade goodies on this page too. RS flag, pretty pin and wood veneer (courtesy Corbet Creations), pink banners from Charms Creations and flair from D-lish Scraps.

Well, need to get back to my assignment. Exams are looming!

Show Us Your Stuff February Challenge

Did you know that Rainbow Splendour is a sponsor this month for Show Us Your Stuff? They have a great sketch challenge this month so make sure you go and check it out and maybe have a go yourself.

This is what the sketch looks like:

And this is what I came up with:

I used some of the goodies from the newly released Sweet Day kit from Rainbow Splendour. The new release only happened a few days ago so there might still be some bits and bobs left so make sure you check them out here. I think the gold glitter bow is my favourite!

Check out the cool foiled epoxy! And the wood veneer triangles (from a previous RS kit) I foiled in rose gold for some extra sparkle.

How cool is the cat Charms Creation heart! There are still a few cat Charms here if you "need" one for your your fur baby.

So, that is my take on the sketch, make sure you have a go, you still have plenty of time!

Show Us Your Stuff January

Good Morning! Popping in today to share a page that I created for the current Show Us Your Stuff challenge. This month is a great bright summery inspiration board, and it was the colours that grabbed my attention and what shaped my page. Here is the board:

And here is my take on the board:

I loved the rainbow coloured boards in the picture and used that as my starting point creating a colourful fringed background. I also documented a summer story about how summer means cricket in our house (well for me at least!).

I have used a Charms Creations tab in this little cluster. These tabs are great for little clusters!

This cluster has some Rainbow Splendour goodies, a pretty pin, and epoxy and a wood veneer. The title is also hand made, by me! I created a script title that I fussy cut out to be part of my title.

And the final cluster with another Charms Creations, this time an arrow, a D-lish Scraps flair and more wood veneer from Rainbow Splendour. There is also a vellum card from RS peeking out from behind my photo and the hint of a D-lish Scraps journal spot. So much hand made goodness on one page! Can you tell where I get most of my embellies from?!

Show Us Your Stuff March

Well, today I am back to share a page that I created for the Show Us Your Stuff challenge. This month is a sketch.

I kind of flipped mine, like a mirror flip, well you will get it when you see it!

I also managed to use lots of "handmade" goodies too. Not made by me, but things from small Aussie business that do make things themselves! Can you spot them all?

Here I have used a Burdy's Embellies spotty button. It is great to layer with and create a small cluster with my journalling.

In this cluster is a D-lish Scraps flair, a Charms Creations heavenly heart and part of a vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour who also happen to be a sponsor this month!

More Rainbow Splendour goodness here, the other half of the bow, a wood veneer cloud and also a pretty pin.

When I cut the bow to use I realised that it kind of reminded me of a fish tail, which I thought was super cool given the page is about my son playing in the water!

So, there you have it, my page for SUYS with lots and lots of handmade goodness! I hope you get a chance to play too, with Rainbow Splendour as a sponsor it is worth it!

Show Us Your Stuff January Challenge

Happy Australia Day! Mine was spent chilling at home, smelling the lamb roasting in the slow cooker! And it was yummy too!

Popping in for a quick share today to show you the page that I created for the SUYS January challenge. The challenge this month is to be inspired by the following mood board:

Very soft and pretty and all about summer! I decided to pull out some of my Cocoa Vanilla papers and I ended up with this page:

I guess my colour scheme was soft blues mixed with a bit of orange, but they needed to be on the softer side because of the mix of colours in the photo! I have used a bit of handmade stuff too! Can you see the subtle stencilling? That is from one of the great stencils at Flutterby Designs and it was used with some distress ink.

To start with there is a gorgeous lush lollipop from Charms Creations, the Project Life card was also from Charms Creations as a part of one of the great kits that come out every so often (the lollipop was a part of that kit too!). The wood veneer is also from an Aussie business, but they are no longer dealing in scrapping stuff and for the life of me I can't remember their name!

Here is a cute heart pretty pin from Rainbow Splendour, in the perfect colour too!

And lastly a cool chevron (also from the kit) also from Charms Creations to finish things off.

So there you have it, my page for the January Show Us Your Stuff mood board.

Last Minute Pages

Nothing like leaving things to the last minute is there?! But at this time of year when you are go go go for most of the month and then finally things start to settle down and bam, New Years Eve is upon you.

Well despite the craziness and going away for a few days after Christmas, I found some time today to do the Show Us Your Stuff December sketch.

I thought a sketch was a good way to go in order to "get something done"! And here is the page that I created:

I had lots of fun adding some colourful Colour Blast texture paste (yellow) and also some Shimmerz pretty pastel pink Dazzler paste. I just spread it on with a spatula type tool and let it dry, nice and easy!

I have added a few things for my hand made goodies. Here is a beautiful vellum bow from Rainbow Spendour. The little foiled circles are also hand made, by me!

Who can resist a pretty Heavenly Heart from Charms Creations? And this white doily one was perfect for adding texture as well.

And last one, this great heart pretty pin also from Rainbow Splendour. I love how it matched the pinks in the papers.

So that is it. I have one more last minute challenge that I need to load up and then I am getting settled in to some TV watching and I will definitely be in bed before the new year rings in!

Show Us Your Stuff September Challenge

Good Morning! I am trying to get back on track with my creating and slowly I am getting there. I have had a mini break (mainly because of other activities taking up my time), and as much as I want to get crafty again I am still feeling in a bit of an exhausted rut. But I know once I get a few pages up my sleeves and things slow down a little it should turn around.

Having said that I did just complete my first September challenge! I decided to do the Show Us Your Stuff challenge which was simply:

I decided to run with a hot pink colour for my extra colour and I used a Charms Creations star for my handmade embellishment. This is the page I created:

We had a new little girl join our extended family in June and I decided that some pictures of my eldest (and also eldest cousin) holding the youngest would make a good page, and hot pink worked well this too! I used some gorgeous Amy Tangerine papers, they were in just the right colour and some picked raspberry distress ink (also the perfect pink) in the mix with the black and white.

How cute is the little skull button on the Charms star?! I know you don't automatically associate a skull with a baby page, but it is cute and I think it works! And there peeking out is one of my favourite scrapping items, the D-lish journal spot!

Lately I have been playing with brush script and decided to use my own writing to create the title. I have found that a size 1 round brush with water colour paint has worked well for me. Loving the look and I plan on experimenting a lot more with this.

I recently purchased some cool stencils from Flutterby Designs (along with some other goodies!) and this word stencil is one of those. I have used gesso through the stencil (quite thick) as it is a good resist medium. Can't wait to play some more, and I might just need some more of their stencils!

So, that is it for today, thanks for stopping by,

Guest Designers for Show Us Your Stuff

So Charms Creations is a sponsor for Show Us Your Stuff this month and we were invited to be guest designers too! Well those of us who aren't already on the SUYS team that is!

This month they have an awesome mood board:

So the challenge is use the board for inspiration and add something hand made.

And this is what I came up with:

There was just so much to be inspired by on the board and you can probably see lots of little bits of it in my page!

I included a D-lish Scraps flair button on my page too, which is a handmade embellishment!

I just loved the peg stars on the board so made some half size ones to include on my page. I swiped gesso over the top so they would stand out against the wood background.

Of course there had to be a Charms Creations on my page, and given this month we are celebrating the DIY shapes I have included one. To make it fit my page I doodled some daisies on it and finished them off with yellow enamel dots. I think it looks so sweet! The DIY's are so versatile make sure you grab some and have a play!

So there you have it. The full challenge details can be found here, and if you want to see what the Charms Team got up to you can see it all here.

Last Minute July Challenge

Well, I have managed to sneak one last challenge for the month in. I decided to go with the Show Us Your Stuff challenge which was all about handwriting. Including it as a feature whether it is your own handwriting or belonging to someone else.

So here is the challenge prompt:

My page started with my photos and once I had them I knew where I wanted to go with the challenge. So here it is:

The page itself is a reasonably simple page, with the handwriting down the side forming part of the feature of the page. I found the text used in the beginning of the Star Wars movie (IV, A New Hope, the original first Star Wars of course!) and wrote that, unfortunately I skewed off a little as I wrote down, but hey, it's not about being perfect!

I chose to use a Charms Creations Super Star and a D-lish Scraps flair for my handmade embellishments.  I kept the colour scheme simple with silver, white and shades of blue.

Adding in more stars with the Freckled Fawn star paper clip from D-lish Scraps, also the date spot (love these!).

And here is a close up of the writing.

What a fun challenge!

Show Us Your Stuff - May

So, I have managed to get another challenge done before the month is finished! This time I decided to go with one that was reasonably easy, a sketch! You have to love a sketch for getting something done fast (well usually anyway!). I went with the sketch up at Show Us Your Stuff:

So this is the sketch and as usual the only other criteria is something handmade. I have included a Charms Creations map marker and a D-lish Scraps flair button. So, this is what I finished with:

I dug these old photos out after talking about brass monkey's (and what happens to them!) with Liam. The photos are from 2008, and just look at how little my three are! Even Liam commented on how small he looked. Ahh.... memories... babies no more!

I played up on the red and yellow that Liam was wearing and kept the rest of the page fairly neutral with black, white and grey, oh and a little kraft for good measure!

Love how my Charms Creation map marker was a perfect match for this page!

And a little bit of D-lish Scraps flair often makes its way onto my pages, and this kraft script word was perfect.

I decided that the background was too stark if I just left it plain white, so I used a stencil and texture paste then added a soft water colour effect using scattered straw distress ink on a plastic bag spritzed with water. This is a great way to create a soft effect. Then I splattered a little bit of red Mr Huey's to finish.

Well, that is it for now. I am not sure I will get any more challenges done this month, a few other deadlines are snapping at my heal! But never say never!

Thanks for stopping by.
