Scrapbooking Top 50 August Challenge

Have you checked out the Scrapbooking Top 50 challenge for August yet? It is a great inspiration photo...

I was inspired by the butterflies and music and also the rainbow of colours, so I new I had to get out my colourful supplies!

This is what I came up with:

I had a great music stencil and I used this with a rainbow selection of Colour Blast pastes to create my background. I love how it turned out, such vibrant colours with texture to boot!

These pretty little butterflies were created by using dylusion sprays on a piece of card and kind of randomly spraying them in the rainbow order and then punching out the butterflies when it was dry. To finish off some of the butterflies I used my decco foil glue pen to add some gold foil to the tips. I think that the glue pen is my new favourite toy!

I also added some gold foil to a Charms Creations music paper star, some wood veneer music notes and I used the pen to write the word "Laughter" which I foiled and cut out for part of the title! You have to love a "little" gold on your page :)

So if you haven't had a go at this challenge maybe you should! It is such a fun inspiration picture.

Scrapbooking Top 50 March Challenge

Last catch up for now (that I can think of!), this time it is Scrapbooking Top 50. This month we have a prompt for the challenge. You need to use the word "sweet" on your page, you can take inspiration from the pretty picture too if it helps, hmmmmm donuts!

Here is my page:

I decided to use one of Cocoa Vanilla's pretty collections, and would you believe that there just happened to be the word sweet in the die cuts?! Pretty "sweet" I say!

I repeated the triangles that were on some of the patterned paper on the background too, with texture paste coloured by Lindy's Stamp Gang magicals (very cool for colouring texture paste!), and a Amy Tan small stencil.

A little cluster with a stamped tab and some flowers cut out from some paper and a Rainbow Splendour wood veneer cross (or + depending on how you position it!).

Some more crosses and a pretty pin also from Rainbow Splendour, and of course there has to be a Charms Creations embellishment on the page! This time a pretty soft heart, the doily is also from one of the mixed packs (that I think will be available again very soon!).

This month WOW chipboard is a sponsor and I have used one of their flourishes which I covered with Colour Blast paste (not quite as easy to do as it sounds!).

So make sure you head over to the blog and check out the other samples and have a go yourself! There is still plenty of time to get an entry in!

Scrapbooking Top 50 January Challenge

You may remember that I revealed that I am now creating for the Scrapbooking Top 50 challenge site, so that means another challenge to share with you.

This month is a nice and easy sketch, something to ease into the new year with! The sponsors this month are Rainbow Splendour and Burdy's Embellies and I just so happened to have some goodies from both of these awesome hand made embellishment business to use!

And this is what I came up with:

I am just loving the soft and pretty colours together. The papers are from an Amy Tangerine line (I think or perhaps Dear Lizzy). And that cool triangle stencil is a Basic Grey one.

Loving the glitter foam die cuts from Burdy's Embellies, and they come in all kinds of colours and shapes!

Some of the newest wood veneer from Rainbow Splendour.

I used some Colour Blast paste in sunshine and I was hoping this picture might show the pearly shimmer, but it doesn't quite do it justice! I can tell you though, this paste is awesome to work with, so buttery and easy to spread and such vivid colours. I have just ordered myself a few more to play with and I am sure that I will be ordering more sooner rather than later!

More wood veneer from Rainbow Splendour. This cute little rainbow I coloured in with gelatos, trying to look a little like kid's colouring with crayons, like my nieces in the photo!

Time for you to go and check out the sketch and the rest of the teams pages too!

Thanks for stopping by.

Just thought that I would pop in and share some news that was announced via Facebook earlier this month.

I am very honoured to be a part of the fabulous Kraft + creative team, with my first share starting in January! To say that I was blown away when asked if I would like to be a part of this team is an understatement!

And also starting in January I will be creating for Scrapbooking Top 50! Another exciting team filled with amazingly talented ladies to be a part of!

Scrapbooking Top 50 November Challenge

Morning! Charms Creations are a sponsor over at Scrapbooking Top 50 this month and we got a chance to play with their very tropical mood board!

My first thought when I saw this board was cool colours! Then I thought I could create something a bit like the umbrellas using my stash of Charms Creations "O's", so I did! This is what I finished with:

It was just lucky that lots of paper collections had fruit prints! I had a great range of paper to choose from! And the photo (even though it is an older one) had the perfect colours for this board.

Now don't laugh too hard at my stitching attempt! I know I need to work on those French knots. But I think the "fruit" turned out pretty cool!

I love using a wood veneer word as a title, it makes life so simple! I think this one is from Freckled Fawn.

Some simple neutral embellishments help to finish off the page.

So, are you going to have a go at this challenge?!

Thanks for stopping by.

Scrapbooking Top 50 October Challenge

The Scrapbooking Top 50 challenge this month was a great sketch, and it was just the motivation to scrap a group of four photos that have been sitting in my photo pile for quite a while! So this is the sketch and due to the orientation of my photos I decided to rotate it.

And this is how my page finished up:

I had fun matching paints and sprays to the colours in the towers and I am quite pleased with the results. A fairly simple page in the scheme of things, not a lot of product, but it was a lot of fun to create!

Using some of my Burdy's Embellies foam arrows. And of course my page staple, a journal spot from D-lish Scraps! I am loving this stamp from Kaisercraft too.

So there you have it, my take on the Scrapbooking Top 50 October sketch!

Last Minute August Challenge Post

Nothing like leaving things until the last minute! I thought I would have a go at the Scrapbooking Top 50 August challenge and started playing around with it on Friday, but a really busy weekend and follow on today didn't give me the time that I really wanted, but nonetheless I finished something!

The challenge was to be inspired by this image:

My first thoughts were pink and a yellow/limey green and for some contrast black and that is where I started! I also played around with another idea for the Charms Creations DIY's based on a cool technique used by Belinda Jane Spencer.

So here is the page that I finished with:

I also went with cake themed photos too! This is my little niece on her 5th birthday and the dress she is wearing is a perfect match for the colours on the page.

I am loving using the word stickers/phrases at the moment and these from Crate Paper were perfect!

There are the D-lish Scraps journal spots that find their way onto almost every page that I do now! A must have in my stash!

And here is the Charms Creations DIY, I transferred a photo of my niece onto the fabric using gel medium. I think I still need to perfect the technique, but now I know it is possible. So stay tuned for a refined method on how to to this, maybe I should even do a step-by-step!

Well, that is it from me, more things to get back to! Thanks for stopping by!
