Cyber Crop Playing

Hi Ho it is Friday! I have had a good week with getting DT commitments done and found myself with a little spare time to do some scrapping just because and just for me. I have been having a hankering to play too so armed with the gorgeous colour challenge set by Cindy for the Scrap Suite cyber crop I decided to play!




Isn't it a fabulous colour palette?! And a pretty amazing sample by Cindy too! And the good news is the challenge is open until mid September so you have plenty of time to join in if the colours grab you too! Just head over to the D-lish Scraps blog here and find the join the Scrap Suite button in the side bar.

So, back to it, I decided to start with some of the new distress ink colours, specifically Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron. I swiped these onto a piece of old plastic bag, spritzed with water and "stamped" onto my background cardstock. I did this around the page and built up colour here and there and let it dry (well mostly, I do get impatient!). I then added some colour in the same way using Tumbled Glass, Mowed Lawn and Iced Spruce ink pads. After this was completed and dried I added some texture paste with a Scrap FX diamond stencil, let this dry, so much drying.... And finally played with some Indigo Blu stamps around where I was planning on placing my layered pile of papers and photos. So let's look at the finished page:

I used one of the D-lish Scraps 5x7 paper bags opened out and cut up layered with some doilies and dictionary print vellem. The bags are a great substitute for patterned paper.

My title was cut on my Cameo using a cool script type font. I am loving adding some random bits of punchinella into my layers too. Throw in a few other bits and pieces and hey presto!

I have been really enjoying the enamel shapes pack that I picked up at the birthday sale! I love having hearts and other shapes to add in. 

And to finish off some motex tape for my journaling and date, stapled for some added interest.

More D-lish Scraps shares

D-lish Scraps Cyber Cropping

Hey there, how you all going this fine Monday morning? I am popping in to share a page that I created for the D-lish Scraps blog that used a great technique from one of our fellow team.

The lovely Kerry challenged us in the February cyber crop to create a tie dye background for our page using 3 different colours. Well I had a go, and it was fun, not sure I nailed the technique, but who cares, right?!

Good news too, we have changed the rules for our cyber crops, you now have until the next cyber crop to get your challenge entries done. So that gives you a whole month to work on them! If you aren't a member of the Scrap Suite go to the blog here and click on the link to join in the side bar.

Cyber Crop Scrapping at D-lish Scraps

Hey there, this weekend saw the first cyber crop for D-lish Scraps. What was really nice was having some time to try some of the challenges myself! I also set the colour challenge for this month too. If you want to join the D-lish Scraps community on Facebook click on the link to join here on the blog.

It is not too late to join and participate. The challenges don't need to be completed until this coming Friday 23rd January.

Anyway, I have got off topic haven't I?! I chose to do Anna's challenge which was to create a page with pockets and no photos! A real challenge!



Doesn't Anna's sample look fantastic. This one really stumped me, but then I had a brain wave (must be the heat and humidity in Brisbane at the moment!), and thought I would use the pocket as a hidden journaling space and talk about dreams for the new year. So here is what I finished with:

First thing, see how many flowers that I have used! See I can do big flower clusters if I want to!!!

So many gorgeous flowers to choose from at D-lish Scraps!

And my journal card, which was a 6x4 project life card with a tag attached.

D-lish Cyber Crop

Last weekend was this months Cyber Crop over at D-lish Scraps and I was lucky enough to set one of the challenges for the weekend.

I just love the look of an oversized photo on a page, it really makes a spectacular page!

That is all to share for today, although I must say that I feel like I have been scrapping up a storm lately, but I just can't share most of it yet! But I can say I have some cool news to share soon that I can't wait to share with you!

Fun with Embossing

Over at the Scrap Suite Facebook group (run by D-lish Scraps) we have just finished up our October Cyber crop. One of the challenges was to include embossing wet or dry on your page, this was set by the lovely Cindy and her page was amazing!

Now, I always like a good challenge, and I have been seeing some embossing techniques that I have been wanting to give a go. So I thought no time like the present!

Here is the page that I came up with:

What I have done is a faux letter-press technique whereby I inked with a brayer one side of my embossing folder and then ran it through the machine. In this case I used one of the Tim Holtz card embossing folders and I used the Red Royal Hero Arts ink. Looks great doesn't it?! I also ran some plain vellum through to make the second card. 

The other embossing, which is a little harder to see as it is hidden behind stuff (in the close up below it is the bigger dot behind the black with white dotty paper), is metallic embossing powder on vellum with a dots background stamp. I love this look! I used Pewter Metallic Zing from American Crafts. I also love the look of the Copper Zing.

And lastly, I decided to have a play with some of the D-lish coloured tulle, I think this one is silver. I just pinched it in and stapled with the Tim Holtz tiny attacher (love that thing!)  and created a border.

All in all a fun page to create!And I encourage you to go and ask to join the Scrap Suite and join in on the next cyber crop!

Cyber Crop over at The Scrap Suite

So, if you haven't checked it out already, I think you really need to go and ask to join The Scrap Suite Facebook Group. It is a closed group and it is a community of D-lish Scraps people who love to create with D-lish goodies! Once a month there is a fab cyber crop with some inspiring challenges to get you our of your comfort zone.

This month the sketch challenge was set by Ros and looked something like this:

Isn't the page adorable! I decided to do something a little differently for my take on the page. Instead of creating  pie chart as drawn, I decided to use a large doily for my circle background and used strips of coloured paper with faux stitching to represent the pieces of the pie. So I ended up with this page:

Lots of D-lish goodies in here. The flowers, the bottle cap, the resin heart, the doilies, the motex tape and the Pink Fresh brad sticker.

Another D'lish Cyber Crop Challenge

So, I did manage to get one more challenge completed for the cyber crop. I even added a mobile phone photo to the album. But then realised I had forgotten one of the criteria! Oh well, never mind...

The challenge was from the lovely Sandra - Queen of the Cyber Crop from August, and it was to make the project photography centered and include a camera embellishment somewhere (this is what I forgot!). I did however go back and add a camera before taking a better photo!

After reading the challenge I knew exactly which photo that I wanted to use. Our Niamh has taken an interest in photography, more specifically flower photography and if we are going anywhere (and she has to be dragged along...) that gives her this opportunity she will take my old SLR and do so.

Cyber Cropping

I have been cyber cropping! Something that I have not done in a long while! I decided to join in on the Scrapbook Savvy cyber crop which started last Friday evening. I have completed two of the four challenges and not sure if I will get to any more.

The sad thing about this cyber crop is it will be the last for the store as they are closing down. Seems to be happening too much lately....


So the challenges which I have completed are:

Mood board inspiration

My page took inspiration from the feathers and also the wooden bursts on the clock. So I have ended up with this:

Lots of feathers and a splash of wood veneer! A very neutral page, not my usual style, but I like it! Oh and the gold feathers are made using washi tape!

The next challenge was based on the sketch:

And my interpretation:

The basic layout is there, but I have certainly "tweaked" the sketch to my own purposes!
